Yeah. I never really liked or understood Physics. Biology has always been my favourite. I've always liked making notes in class. Using different pens. I used to have the best notes in class. Until junior college happened. Never mind.
The reason is I even thought about physics today is because I had my first mandatory class today - Fundamentals of Construction and Structure. I was very excited about today's class. I like construction. And I really wanted to do some memorising. I haven't memorized anything in almost a year. Because we didn't really have anything to memorize. We were taught about design, which I like obviously, but still. I felt as if something was missing. But I was disappointed. Today's class was about all the types of forces acting on a structure, etc. I'm glad we don't have to solve numericals. It'd have been a nightmare. In the first hour of class, I took down notes very sincerely. I was happy, to be honest. I'd missed making notes. Then, we had a break of 10 minutes and then I guess my attention period came to an end. I was literally dozing off, which greatly reminded me of high school. The class was boring. Physics is boring in itself. Being taught online makes it 100% more boring. I miss school. Probably everyone does. Physics lectures in school were fun. Not because the teacher made it fun, but because my friends made it fun.

We had our first studio submission today. We had to write the script for an audio-guided tour of our site. I stuck to my neighbourhood only. Since it was my first submission, I wanted to make a good impression. I did my best. I don't whether my faculty will like it. It took me a lot of time to write. The submission was at 9 pm. I thought I'll finish within an hour, but it took me almost 2 hours. I hope they like it. Tomorrow we'll have to read our scripts in class. I hope I won't end up embarrassing myself. Maybe I won't. I don't think it was that bad.
My Script
Hello.
Welcome to Evershine City. Don’t ask me why it is called so. I think you’ll be able to figure that out by the time you finish your walk. Right now you’re standing at Evershine Gate. Before you start looking for a gate, tell me there is none.
Look at your left side. This housing society is about 40 years old and is the oldest in the neighbourhood. This society serves as Evershine gate. Once you pass this society you enter Evershine City.
Now start walking. Do you see Geeta Clinic? It is a pediatric hospital. Right next to it Amul ice cream parlour. Now isn’t it clever? An ice cream shop right next to a kids hospital. No wonder it went from being a small shop to a full-fledged air-conditioned ice cream parlour.
Keep walking. Next, you’ll see Kottakkal Arya Vaidyashala. In simple words, an ayurvedic clinic. I don’t mean to be rude, but I have honestly never seen people go into the clinic. I guess people prefer quick-acting allopathic medicines (that sometimes have side effects) more than the natural system of medicine that takes time to show effects. After all, isn’t patience the one thing people lack these days?
Start walking. I’d advise you to stay on the footpath on your left side. Motorists here are a bit reckless. Keep walking until you see a board saying Holy Family Convent High School. While walking, feel free to look around. You’ll see some astonishing contrasts. A mutton shop right next to a cafe. I don’t think you’ll get to see that often. You’ve reached my school. Enter through the first gate you see. Sister Lissy has been kind enough to let you have a look at her chappel. Walk straight. If it wasn’t a Sunday, you wouldn’t have been able to walk here. The best footballers from the neighbourhood are trained here. Walk across the ground. Climb the stairs you see. Turn left. Climb the next set of stairs. Now turn right. Isn’t the chappel beautiful? You can sit here for some time. Think. Meditate. Or simply marvel at its beauty.
Now, climb down the stairs, but don’t turn right, turn left. Climb down. Walk straight. You can stop at the grotto. Do you see all the flowers at Mother Mary’s feet? The students get her flowers every morning. You know they favour they’d ask her in return. Haven’t we all prayed for good marks in exams without actually studying? Exit through the gate you see in front of you.
Right now, you’re standing in the city centre - Evershine Circle. You’ll find everything here. Medical store, stationery shop, groceries, diary. And before I forget, the shop right in front of you serves in the best samosas in town. I’ll suggest you get one. You can have it on the way. Be careful while crossing the street.
Did you get your samosa? Now, walk on the right footpath. Walk straight till you see Catholic Syrian Bank. On the way, you might smell fish. That is because every day of the week, you’ll find a lady selling fish sitting right under the Banyan tree. We’re a bit late. She leaves by 11 am. If you look closely, there are some nails on the tree. I don’t know if you believe in paranormal activities. People say the tree is haunted. Keep walking. Do you see the bank? Cross the street. You can cross this street with your eyes closed. There are hardly any vehicles here. But of course, I won’t suggest you do that. Safety first.
Keep walking straight. Now you’re in the wealthiest part of the town. Do you see the few bungalows amidst all the apartments? Walk until you see the Mosque. Isn't it beautiful? I would have loved to take you inside, but unfortunately, it’s a Sunday today. Maybe some other time. The house next to the mosque is said to belong to the wealthiest man. See his kids are waving at you as you pass. Aren’t they cute? Now you have to cross the street. Be careful, okay.
Keep walking. Do you see the huge bell? That is St. Thomas Church. I know what you’re thinking. A church and a mosque in such close proximity? Before you actually start admiring it, turn right. That is a temple dedicated to Sai Baba. Now tell me, isn’t the neighbourhood beautiful? How cool is it? This is one of the rare occasions when the street isn’t decorated. Almost every day, there are celebrations either in the church or the temple or the mosque. And the street is always decorated. In fact, they share the decorations, the church, the temple and the mosque. You can go into the church or the temple or both and offer prayers.
Start walking. On your left is the newest apartment built. Do you remember the first society you saw? Evershine Gate? It was merely 3 stories high. This one has 10 stories. Now at the street edge take a left. Look at the gate. The painting is beautiful, isn’t it? Now, look around you. Look in front of you. Doesn’t the road look like a red carpet has been laid for you? All thanks to the beautiful Gulmohar trees. Take your time walking. Do you hear cuckoos?
Keep walking till you reach the sugarcane juice seller. Are you tired? Would you like to have a drink? I'm not biased, but he definitely sells the freshest juice. Now, while you’re drinking his juice, look straight ahead. That is Evershine Medical Store. And opposite to it is Iasis Hospital. Generally, medical stores open next to hospitals. Here, it’s vice versa. The hospital was built just 2 years back. The medical store has been here since anyone can remember.
Now, cross the road and start walking straight. Walk until the end of the road. Turn left. The big four-lane road is called Back Road. If you’ll look closely, you’ll see that the buildings don’t face the road. The face on the other side. Before you think it is peculiar, the road was made recently. 4 years ago. The buildings are almost 30 years old. Go sit on one of those pipes you see. Look around. You’ll see people of all age groups here. But one thing in common is that no one is alone. People are all in groups. There are groups of teenagers hanging out, senior citizens walking, kids playing. Also, be careful of the vehicles. People generally come here to learn driving. Do you prefer being alone or with a group?
I think you should start walking now. Keep walking. Do you see Murugan stores? Now look ahead. There is another small temple. Pay your respects. Do you see a man asking for alms? Do you think it’s right? I don’t mean to offend anyone, but he seems healthy. Isn’t it always better earning you bread by hard work rather than begging for it? And why do you think he sits right outside the temple and not outside a grocery store? I think it is because people generally feel charitable and need to be helpful right after they offer prayers. They don’t feel like giving alms to a person sitting outside a grocery store.
Walk straight. Do you see the chai shop? And the pan shop next to it? I can assure you. This is the only place where you’ll find all male members of the society and no females. Why is it so? Don’t women drink tea or smoke cigarettes? I think they do. They obviously do. Maybe society doesn’t appreciate women standing and smoking on the road. Don’t you think it’s time we change that mentality?
Now, cross the road. Be extra careful. This is the busiest street. In front of you, is Diwan Market. It started as a simple vegetable market, but it’s so less than a hypermarket. You’ll find everything from vegetables, to groceries, to meat, to clothes, to hardware, to spices here. Not to mention all the food stalls around. This is where I leave you. There is no better place to experience my city other than its Diwan Market.
